The new law "On Advertising" has raised the issue of paying taxes for most bloggers. Authors who receive a stable income from their blog have probably already resolved this issue and registered as self-employed or an individual entrepreneur. However, bloggers who do not yet receive a tangible income from their channel often do not register the status of self-employed, fearing to lose social benefits. Let's figure out together how realistic it is to be left without social benefits by becoming self-employed, and what benefits are due to the self-employed.

Self-employed and social security
Self-employed status for bloggers is a great opportunity to work officially, receive legal income and pay taxes. In addition to loyal taxation, the self-employed can count on additional payments and social benefits. Self-employed status has virtually no effect on receiving such support measures. This is best illustrated by the list of benefits paid to the self-employed:

allowance for caring for a disabled child;
allowance for care of elderly persons aged 80 years and over;
child care allowance for a child aged 3 to 7 years, provided that the income per family member does not exceed the subsistence minimum;
allowance for care of disabled children of the first group and disabled persons of the first group;
child care payments up to 1.5 years. Fixed amount, which as of February 2023 is 7,082.85 rubles per child per month.
Self-employed people can also count on a low-income benefit if their family per capita income does not exceed the subsistence minimum. This payment is not tied to a person’s social status and is calculated based on the income they receive. Low income or no income at all is sufficient grounds for calculating a low-income benefit.

You can obtain the status of self-employed in the wordpress web design agency mobile application "My Tax", through the State Services portal, on the FTS portal or through a bank. And to find out why more and more bloggers choose to work as self-employed, as well as other options for formalizing labor activity, read the article about three tax statuses for bloggers in Russia:

Self-employment for pensioners

Self-employed status does not affect the receipt of the social portion of the pension, which is guaranteed by law upon reaching a certain age and does not depend on any additional conditions.

But the size of the insurance part of the pension depends on the length of service and accumulated points. Therefore, a self-employed pensioner can voluntarily make contributions to the Pension Fund to increase the size of the insurance part of the pension. Such contributions are recorded automatically, and the process itself is extremely simple: transfers can be made through the My Tax application. The Pension Fund will see the receipts and perform indexation on its own.

Payment of 250,000 rubles for the self-employed
Self-employed individuals can receive up to 250,000 rubles in financial support from social security agencies. The specific amount is calculated depending on the region where the business is conducted.

First, you need to obtain the appropriate status through the special application “My Tax” or on the FTS website, and then contact the social security authorities directly or through the MFC to write an application and submit the following documents:

business plan (portfolio);
identity card of the self-employed person and all family members;
certificate of family composition;
indicate the existing property;
confirmation of income for the last three months for each family member (income must be below the subsistence level).
You can receive this measure of support only once and only if you win the competition. Preference is usually given to people with fresh, promising ideas. The direction of the business is completely unimportant.

What payments are not due to the self-employed

The only type of benefit that cannot be combined with the status of self-employed is unemployment benefit. A self-employed person cannot be considered unemployed, so they cannot register with the employment center and receive benefits.

However, even here the opportunity to receive benefits remains for the self-employed. It is enough to remove the status of self-employed through the application "My Tax". Having ceased to be self-employed, you can apply for the status of unemployed and the payment of benefits.

Self-employed people retain the opportunity to receive social benefits from the state regardless of their new tax status. Therefore, there is no need to be afraid of receiving such a status.
